David nodded. “I know where we can find clothes. You’re right...” he muttered, shaking his head as if to clear the fog. “We need to get out. There is much to tell you.”

“I know. We will talk,” I said causally as I scanned the facility. Very little had changed in the weeks I’d been gone. “Are there others missing?”

Narrowing his eyes, David shook his head. “I honestly don’t know. Things have... changed. We’re left alone the majority of the time, but something is going on. They’re afraid.”

Afraid. I scanned the room, searching for anything that could provide answers. I knew there were other rooms within the facility used for testing. They could house at least three dozen creatures, but why would they have any fear?

“What are you talking about?” Cassia asked tentatively.

“We talk later,” Steen demanded, giving Cassia a respectful nod. His forever changing eyes held nothing but the need for retaliation. “You are close to Erik and the others, your connection very strong. That is good. We will need your help.”

“Close,” she whispered. “Yes.” She pressed her fingers over her mouth, her eyes flashing.

“We are tethered in a way I don’t understand,” I answered, taking long strides in her direction.

Cassia threw out her arm. “Stop. I don’t know what’s going on, but whatever occurred in that cave will never happen again.”

Steen snickered. “She is a strong woman. She will be perfect. Her concern for our kind, as well as your own was surprising in this sea of disgusting humans.”

I sighed. Steen would want her for his own.

“Let’s gather what supplies we can before returning to the city. We will need to sweep the other areas,” I stated, nodding to Klar as he approached. He’d taken the brunt of several beatings, his defiance a direct correlation to his species. Klar was ruthless, even more so than any of the scientists. They had no idea who they’d captured. The ability for Kevin and his crew to abduct the leader and the second in command was certainly disconcerting. Security had already been beefed up around the city, various guards placed in position. Everyone feared another attack.

  It would come.

“I will handle searching for others with Brexin,” Klar growled, turning his head toward Steen. “We should kill the remaining humans.”

“Not yet,” Steen directed. “And yes, I have my reasons.”

“If we’re going to do this, it should be now,” Brexin added.

Klar huffed, shooting a look at Cassia as he walked closer. “And the female?” He fingered her long strands of hair, taking several deep breaths. The first smile I’d seen in months spread across his face, widening his hollow cheeks. “Incredible. I must taste her.”

“You should have that honor, Klar, but only after we return. She is indeed special to us, but she requires extensive training.” Steen’s voice was commanding.

“She comes with us. There is no question.” My response was directed toward Steen, my desire for her increasing.

“Wait. Where? Where are you taking me? With everything I’ve found out, I need to return to Earth to warn everyone and try to stop this madness.” Cassia recoiled, her lower lip quivering. “I’m not coming with you. I’ll help in any way but I’m going home. Some fucking way,” she whispered, wringing her hands.

“Our rule stands, little human. You are coming with us. You are now our property and you are under our protection, but you must obey.” Steen towered over her, his look of desire as intense as my own.

“Make certain and check below this level. I have a feeling some hybrids as well as those abducted from Galerius are located there.” I realized there were some of the scientists who’d made it to safety, hiding somewhere until we left. They would be forced to contact Earth in order to beg for reinforcements. Perhaps this is what Steen had in mind. Until help arrived, the humans would no longer be secure.

And they would fight for survival.

But we would be ready for their onslaught and they would soon perish.

“Klar and Brexin will take care of it. Take half the men,” Steen instructed. “We will head out under the cover of darkness.”

“Forget it,” she hissed, heading toward the door. “I’m glad you’re free, but I’m no one’s property. This story must be told. These experiments must be stopped.”

“And this planet must be saved. This world does not belong to humans,” Steen stated. “You are coming with us, your obedience required. Take her, Erik. We will prepare to leave. If she gives you any trouble, discipline her as necessary.”

“And the fucking doctor?” Klar asked, crouching down beside Kevin. “He’s still alive.”

“Don’t kill him. You’re not animals, no matter what this bastard led you to believe,” Cassia pleaded.

Steen and I exchanged looks, a single nod his approval.

Growling his disapproval, Klar tossed Kevin into one of the cells, locking him in. “May you rot in your own private hell.” He wrapped his arm around David, guiding him toward the door.

Brexin studied the room, searching before giving me a respectful nod.

Steen started to walk away but I grabbed his arm, pulling him aside and out of hearing distance. “What are the plans for Cassia?” I’d seen the slight hint of animosity in his expression. He was completely aware of our intimacy.

He studied me for a few seconds before speaking. “You are very connected to the girl.”

  “Yes.”

  “Did you know her before?”

  “Not that I’m aware of.”

Steen threw a look in her direction. “You have been with the clan long enough to know our rules as well as our customs. Three will be selected to be her mates and—”

“She is not one of us,” I interrupted. I suspected she’d been used, much like the rest of us.

He issued a single snarl. “Allow me to finish, Erik. You have been a true leader to our clan in my absence. There are many who would prefer you were cast away, but you have won your place with our own. However, our customs must be followed. She is female and she is still considered our enemy. To that end, she will be trained, disciplined, and if she accepts our world and learns to obey, she will have a rich and full life.”

  “And if she doesn’t?”

He offered a slight smile. “Her training is vital. She also had some medical training. That will help. Our doctors are aging.”

Hissing, I clenched my fist, a sense of jealousy spiking my adrenaline. She was hardheaded, opinionated, and the kind of woman who refused to accept domination. The Galerian customs were often brutal.

“Rest easy, my friend,” he said as he placed his hand on my shoulder. “I will honor you as you have for your king. You will be one of her mates as you are my brother.”

Brother. My blood was mixed with his blood, my DNA a mixture of human and Galerian. I nodded in respect, uncertain of our future and terrified of my past.

“And, my brother, I am aware what she means to you. The why is still troubling, but nevertheless, you have a bond already. I will allow you to begin her training, including having one night with her. Then she will be mated. Teach her the ways that you have learned. Help her understand that she is no longer on Earth and must follow our rules. I have faith in you.”

My heart thudded against my chest, fear of the unknown and understanding of human tactics weighing heavily on my mind.

  “Trust, my brother. Trust.”

“What about the remaining scientists at the compound?”

I was surprised at the faraway look in Steen’s eyes, as if he was privy to a damning secret.

“Others from your Earth will come. They will hunt our kind in order to make us into slaves. We will not allow that to happen. We know their weaknesses as well as their needs. Now, ready her for the travel. We will search for others. I can feel them caged in the treacherous and darkest places within this facility.”

Their needs. I had a difficult time believing that creating a new species had anything to do with the various clans’ abilities to withstand the harsh elements.

After Steen, Brexin, and Klar left, Cassia inched closer. “Who are they? What were you discussing?”

“Steen and Klar are leaders of the main Galerian clan, both abducted by Kevin and his men in order to carry out their blasphemous experiments. And our discussions are private.” I remained wary of her questions. I had no way of knowing about her involvement level.

  “Galerian,” she repeated. “Aliens.”

  I nodded.

“And Brexin?” She bit her lower lip.

  “A trusted friend.”

“Everything the members of this facility did is horrible and nothing like what we were told, what Earth was told was going to happen. The experiments were only supposed to be done on human volunteers, bolstering strength and the basic DNA structure, not splicing. Let me contact Earth. Please. I can help you.”

“There is no help or hope for the creatures who were lied to, beaten, and forced to endure horrors. We need to go. You will be safe only with us. I fear many of the humans have been able to escape.”

“I’m not one of you and this planet isn’t my home. Erik, please. I’m so sorry for whatever they’ve done to you, but I’m not one of them. I also don’t belong to you.”

  “That’s where you’re wrong, Cassia.”

“Do you honestly think that kidnapping me is going to matter?”

I knew what had to be done. Steen was correct. Advancing, I towered over her. “We are finished with talking. I will be forced to punish you if you continue to be disobedient.”

“Punished? No. Oh, hell, no.” She pushed her hands against my chest, unable to budge me even an inch. “I don’t understand any of this, but I’m not doing this with you. I can’t. No, I won’t.”

I could no longer tolerate her rebellious nature, not when our lives were at stake. “Then I have no choice.” Wrapping my hand around her wrist, I yanked her toward one of the tables, forcing her over the edge.

“What are you doing?” she wailed, kicking out, her arms flailing.

“Helping you learn to obey.” I yanked down her pants and panties, even as she struggled, trying to find anything she could use as a weapon.

  “Please don’t do this. Don’t.”

Fisting her hair with one hand, I smacked her bottom with the other, moving from side to side. Her skin still had the warm glow from the spanking I’d given her in the cave and my mind reeled with deep longing, even more so than before.

She wiggled, trying to free herself. The sight of her pretty pink pussy forced me to growl, the savagery of what I longed to do nothing more than gasoline to a flame.

“Stop!” she wailed, pushing against the cold, hard steel.

“You will learn to listen in order to stay alive.”

  “Fuck you!”

Her words riled me, even as I continued to be stimulated, hungrier than ever. I continued spanking her, the thudding sound as my hand moved across her jiggling ass cheeks creating another wave of intense hunger. She had no idea what she was doing to me.

“You’re hurting me,” she hissed through clenched teeth.

“This is what will happen when you are disobedient.”

“You’re no better than humans. I don’t deserve this.”

I laughed, continued to smack her ass long and hard. Her skin held a warm blush, the heat molding deliciously into my hand. I could hear her heavy breathing as she undulated, shifting her hips back and forth. I garnered a whiff of her pussy, the scent driving me into a ravaging need. Spots floated in front of my eyes, my cock pinched against the tight confines of my pants. I could never get enough of her.

All her pleading to stop only fueled my actions and I smacked her in rapid succession, moving to her sit spots. I wanted her to understand clearly who she now belonged to.

  “Please. Please. I’ll be good.”

  “Yes, you will.”

Her cries became less about frustration and more about her own intense desires as the electricity soared between us, hunger off the charts.

  One we also couldn’t deny.

Cassia finally stopped struggling, laying her arms flat on the table. She parted her legs as much as the position of her pants would allow, the slight arch in her back allowing another stunning view of her pussy. She was so wet, juice slickening her inner thighs.

And all I could think about was licking and sucking every drop.

I issued several additional harsh smacks, leaving her bottom a bright crimson in color. When I knew she’d had enough, at least for now, only then did I stop. I gave a husky roar as I ran my hands through my disheveled hair.

Her breathing was ragged, and she kept her face smashed against the steel table, her body trembling. She was a strong woman who would fight us every step of the way. I admired that in her, perhaps wishing this was another time and place. My reminiscing wasn’t going to change the past or the future.

“You will learn, Cassia, that our way will keep you safe. There is no returning to your home. The captain of your ship is dead, the shuttle broken down. You belong to us.”

I could tell the words stung, even though they were necessary.

She gave me a nasty look as she stood, wiping the hair out of her face before sliding her clothes back in place. “No one owns me, Erik. One day, I will return home. I will find a way. Everyone I’ve ever known has deceived me and I refuse to play a victim. I don’t understand what’s happening between us, but I can’t care. I need to get back to Earth. That’s my home. Not here.”

“What if there isn’t a home to go to?” I asked, locking eyes with hers.

She twisted her lovely mouth, tears slipping past her long lashes. I’d never felt such a horrific tug on my heart as I did now.

“I have two colleagues who survived. They aren’t like these monsters. Please save them,” she pleaded.

“I will do what I can.”

I yanked the pelt from around my chest before tossing her over my shoulders, covering her with the fur. Where we had to travel would take us through some of the most treacherous areas, but I was determined to keep her safe.

  And alive.

  Chapter Seven

  Cassia

  Boom. Boom. Boom.

The thudding like a striking of a rubber mallet on a drum awakened me, the sound tribal in nature. I stared at the ceiling, the horror of everything that had occurred rushing in the forefront of my mind. Wretched pictures. Damning images.

  Blood.

  Death.

  Being saved.

A clan of creatures had rescued me from certain death, but were they any better than the scientists? A sliver of bright sun shimmered into the dank space, warm and inviting, but I couldn’t stop shivering and I hadn’t from the moment I’d been locked inside the room.

I was angry, enraged at everything that had occurred. I’d know from the second I met Kevin Fields that he was a player, but my suspicions were even worse. He was very connected to Dr. Forrester. What had he been promised, eternal salvation? I’d questioned the great doctor on the work being done on Earth Two only once and I’d sworn never again.

Now, I was here, locked away like the criminal he’d accused Erik of being.

“Erik.” His name dripped off my tongue, oozing like the most delicious taste of honey. I groaned, chastising my thoughts. Brexin was another incredible being, skin the color of a golden sun in the late afternoon. He was gentler than Erik, but his hunger just as extreme. I would never forget the way his eyes changed colors; the most intense blues and vivid greens, yellows and iridescent purple.

And the way he’d fucked me, his cock sliding into my pussy while Erik’s thrust into my ass had been the most incredible moment. He was sweet and compassionate. The thought of the way he kissed hardened my nipples. Whew. I groaned, shivering from several realizations.

Spanking. The asshole had given me a spanking. Two spankings. I hadn’t been dreaming or suffering from hypothermia. I’d been abducted, taken to a dark cave, and fucked by several creatures. And my Viking. What the hell was I thinking? Erik. Human turned... There was no way to describe the hulking manifesto of dark sin. I almost laughed at the thought.

I twisted on the bed, wincing from the sting encompassing every inch of my bruised bottom. Groaning, I sat up, lifting one hip in order to rub my ass. Then I glanced around the room, trying to keep my body from shaking. I was an educated woman, capable of solving some of the most difficult scientific experiments and I’d allowed myself to be captured and taken to some... hell hole.

What I’d seen of the compound they lived in was that it was expansive in size. The entire city was protected by a massive wall. Hundreds if not thousands of people encompassed the clan, all vying to see the human female when I was brought in. Some of the buildings were composed of glass and steel, doors made of metal, windows of glass or at least similar in substance. There were others that reminded me of houses I’d seen in pictures and magazines, beautiful little timber box frames, all colorful and quaint. The city reminded me of...

  Earth.

And what the hell was so special about me?

Think. Think, girl. My mind was muddled, fear of the unknown profound. I had to be confusing memories with reality.

Why had the beasts even allowed me to leave after capturing me? Maybe they’d used me as bait. I thought about the creatures imprisoned in the glass cells. They’d fought to free their own. All my assumptions had been correct. There were additional creatures or aliens imprisoned in the dark bowels of the compound, perhaps even more hybrids.

Still, nothing made any sense. One thing I knew for certain, Kevin couldn’t have initiated the project without significant help. The scientists at the facility were little more than worker bees, certainly not experienced or intelligent enough to develop the needed protocol, which left Dr. Forrester as the true commander of the project. Where did the government actually fit in? For all their propaganda, did they actually know the details of the work being performed?
